Games Like Battlefield V

Whichever game genre you love and play, there is no denying that First Person Shooters are dominating the market. You may think it is oversaturated with all FPS games with different timelines, gameplay mechanics and subgenres but the sheer amount of people that love FPS games can be seen from the sales of two games: Call of Duty and Battlefield.

These two game series are leading the FPS genre nowadays; CoD is known for its arcade gameplay while Battlefield provides a slower, more tactical and team-based gameplay while preserving the fun. This year we will see two new games from them: CoD: Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V.

In case that you want something similar that will complete your day which is similar to Battlefield V but with different story and gameplay, don’t worry because we are here to show you everything.

Similar FPS Games Like Battlefield V for PC, PS4

Today we will talk about Battlefield V and give you similar games to enjoy while waiting for its awaited release.

Insurgency

Insurgency Based on the popular total conversion mod for Half-Life 2, Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat, Insurgency is an intense and realistic multiplayer and co-op shooter that will nail you to your seat. It is made by a small studio, can be bought for really, really low prices and features no paid features but none of these affect its quality; the game is like a diss to mainstream FPS developers that shove DLCs to our faces every day. With 16 maps playable in day and night versions, 7 multiplayer and 5 cooperative game modes and over 40 weapons with numerous attachments, the game is oozing with content, especially considering its price.

HUD is extremely limited, gun sounds are fantastic and their recoils are realistic, there is no crosshair and you usually go down with 1-2 bullets. None of these realistic features take away from the fun, also the maps are not huge so the gameplay is still considerably fast with up to 32 players. It takes a time to get used to but once you do, every other FPS game will feel like children’s garden.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Counter-Strike Global Offensive There is no need to introduce CS: GO, since everyone that heard the term “video game” probably also heard of Counter-Strike. If you like Battlefield’s slower, more team-based gameplay and never tried CS: GO before, it’s highly tactical and extremely skill-based gameplay will surely satisfy you. CS: GO promises to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay with updated versions of the classic CS content with new guns, maps and better balancing.

The pioneering shooter is one of the most played games on PC right now while also being one of the biggest e-Sports titles. Plus, it doesn’t require a high-end PC to run smoothly. If you are still unsure, you can download its free version from Steam to offline play against bots and spectate matches through GOTV.

ArmA 3

ArmA 3 ArmA series is the king of the military simulations, and its third installment gave us pretty much everything we asked for a new-generation ArmA. While it features a singleplayer mode, following the story of Ben Kerry, its main focus is its multiplayer mode.

With a map stretching over 290 km² of Mediterranean island terrain, loads of guns, vehicles on land, air and sea, realistic close-quarter and long-distance combat, it is more than just a shooter; it is a story generator. With its strong modding tools, players created one of the biggest workshops in Steam; ranging from custom weapons and vehicles to intense singleplayer scenarios and entirely new multiplayer game modes; it is a never-ending experience. If you want a realistic, big multiplayer shooter that sets you free, ArmA 3 is your game.

Call of Duty: World War 2

Call of Duty World War 2 Featuring a Call of Duty game in a Battlefield list is sure to raise some eyebrows in some of our readers since the rivalry between the fanbases of Battlefield and Call of Duty is never-ending, but if you just accept it for what it is, CoD: WW2 is one of the most recent and best WW2 games out there.

CoD became a tradition with the annual releases, so do not expect anything revolutionary but it gave us many of the things we have been asking for. First of all, we finally got a foot-on-the-ground CoD after 3 years. The weapon balancing was done much better than some previous titles and the most of the maps were liked by the community.

The new War game mode with different objectives and push-defense style gameplay became a lot of players’ favorite. Black Ops 4’s release is getting closer but if you do not like a futuristic setting in shooters and want a WW2-based game, CoD: WW2 is worth a shot even for Battlefield fans.

PlanetSide 2

PlanetSide 2 If you like Battlefield’s huge maps and player numbers, going up to 64 players, Planetside 2 is sure to catch your attention with 3 large tens of square kilometers continents on one map and literally hundreds of players on the same game, with some servers going up to thousands. You have to choose between three factions, with each faction having access to unique weapons, attachments, vehicles and, abilities.

Each faction has 6 classes, air and ground vehicles and with all these, the game provides one of the largest -if not the largest- war experience on the market. Plus, it is free-to-play, so you can download and try it whenever you want.

World of Tanks

World of Tanks Even though the infantry gameplay is at the core of Battlefield games, they feature a lot of different air, ground and sea vehicles for both transportation and combat. Tanks, helicopters and jets are fan-favorites and if you are one of those people that play exclusively with combat vehicles, you may like World of Tanks. It is a free-to-play war game exclusive to tanks -as you understand from its name.

It features more than 150 different, historically-accurate vehicles and the list is updated frequently. The upgrade and development system allows you to try any of the vehicles and weapons in the game. You can use small, fast tanks, jack-of-all-trades medium tanks or huge, slow but deadly tanks in the field. It suffers from the same issues most F2P games suffer from, but there is nothing to lose by trying it and there are not many other games like it.

Sniper Elite 4

Sniper Elite 4 Battlefield is known to have realistic bullet ballistics, with bullet drop and travel time. If you want a game that goes to the extreme in realistic bullet physics, Sniper Elite 4 is your game. As you can understand from its name, you play as a sniper, but not your typical run-and-gun sniper. You have to control your breath, if you run a lot and raise your heart rate, your precision suffers. You need to take the wind and gravity into account while calculating the bullets travel time.

You can perform use other guns and perform takedowns on the enemies but going guns-blazing is never your best option. All these come together in a stealthy WW2 singleplayer gameplay. You can even jump into the 6 vs 6 multiplayer, which updated with free new maps and modes.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam

Rising Storm 2 Vietnam RS2: Vietnam is a 64-player objective-based FPS with a heavy focus on team tactics with gameplay elements similar to Insurgency we mentioned earlier. It is published by Tripwire Interactive, so those of you that played Red Orchestra will feel right at home on this one. With realistic gun damage and suppression system, one player can pin down an entire squad.

One of its main features is asymmetrical warfare; all 6 different armies have different weapons with different stats. It is a bit hardcore and takes time getting used to, but once you start understanding the maps and player roles, it can easily become your favorite realistic-shooter.

Verdun

Verdun We talked about a couple of realistic shooters until here, but if you really want to feel the dirt and grit of the trench warfare of World War 1, Verdun takes the cake. With accurate weaponry with realistic bullet physics, skill-based weapon handling, poisonous gas with a claustrophobic gas mask experience, horrendous gore effects, and ferocious artillery barrages, you will understand that war is dirty.

It features a squad leveling system with distinct squad types and roles and historical battlefields representing the key theaters on the Western Front, so history geeks will be more than happy. If you want a realistic and gritty WW1 shooter, Verdun is worth giving a shot.

Squad

I think the best way to describe Squad for Battlefield fans would be “Battlefield 2 Project Reality on Unreal Engine 4”. It is everything you want from a modern tactical-shooter with large open maps, vehicle-based combined arms gameplay, player-constructed bases and large, realistic gunfights. It is more than shooting, however, since you can build bases, gather resources or use vehicles with your squad.

It has a steep learning curve and can be frustrating for new players (There are even players that joke about getting PTSD from this game.), but it is worth the time investment. It has a big and friendly community ready to help you learn the game, so if you want a multiplayer-only realistic modern shooter, Squad is a huge experience.

Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 The first Titanfall almost redefined the FPS genre with player jetpacks, wall-running different futuristic gadgets and player controllable “Titans”. But it lacked a bit of depth and players were bored of it quickly, but EA came to correct their mistake and added a singleplayer mode and much more depth to its focus, multiplayer. If you have never played Titanfall before, it is an arcade shooter with advanced movement and weaponry while featuring different and distinct classes of customizable of “Titans” (Which are basically war machines with blades, guns and rockets) that you can call after some time or a killstreak.

It is one of the most fun and innovative shooters on the market with a big fanbase, while I think it is still underrated. If you want a fast, fun and different shooter game with badass robots fighting each other, Titanfall 2 is almost guaranteed to be addictive.

Overwatch

Overwatch If you like Battlefield’s class-based gameplay and want to go to the extreme on that aspect, Overwatch should be an easy choice. Like CS: GO, it is extremely popular and one of the biggest games on the E-Sports scene. It is heavily class-based, with almost every character played completely differently from another.

Being a Blizzard game, it is polished and balanced with updates coming to the game frequently with new modes and maps. Whether you want to casually enjoy a high-quality Team Fortress 2-inspired shooter with your friends or cave in and play competitive games all day, Overwatch is a game that every FPS fan should have.

We have also some games like Overwatch, in case you want to see.

Halo 5: Guardians

Halo 5 Guardians Along with Battlefield and CoD, Halo is another really popular FPS series and its latest addition, Halo 5: Guardians, is the first new-gen Halo we got. It features a campaign with 3 other NPCs that you can order around on the huge levels, but you can clearly see that this singleplayer mode was made for 4 player co-op, and that is how you will enjoy it to the maximum.

Halo’s biggest selling point is its multiplayer modes, and it accomplishes to combine classic Halo gameplay with new, innovative features such as the new War Zone map where you can win by doing many different tasks: capturing locations, killing enemy players or killing strong NPC bosses. Maps are great for both vehicles and infantry and support classic Halo gameplay. If you want an excellent co-op and multiplayer experience for your Xbox One, Halo 5: Guardians is a great choice.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds As we all know, Battlefield V will feature a Battle Royale mode, Firestorm. If you want to practice it before its release, there is no other game better than the acclaimed BR game PUBG with its similarly huge maps and gunplay. We all know PUBG’s gameplay; you drop in with 99 other players on a huge map, loot and scavenge while trying to stay alive among other players that are playing to get that sweet chicken dinner.

Even after Fortnite’s rise, PUBG stays as one of the most popular games on PC with a slower, more based gameplay with different vehicles and weapon attachments, so why wait to get your seat?

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands Ghost Recon: Wildlands features a huge open world map with more than 20 provinces to explore and fight your way through. In single-player, you get three AI teammates to commands around, but the real fun of this game comes with co-op. In co-op, all the realism that comes with the Tom Clancy tag leaves its place for utter chaos and fun.

Co-op works seamlessly in this game, with being able to connect a lobby really quickly and all players having access to the host’s quests and fast-travel points. Co-op also helps to break to the monotony of recurring quests since you can apply many more different tactics. All in all, if you want a big open world that you can go crazy with your friends, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands is your game.

Conclusion:

It can be tedious to wait for your favorite game franchise’s new entry and with less than 2 weeks remaining for Battlefield 5’s release, players are more and more excited. But do not worry, the First-Person Shooter genre is the most populated genre in the gaming industry and you can always find a game like Battlefield 5 that you can enjoy. We compiled our favorites among them and hope that you will enjoy yourself while shooting your enemies.
