Fortnite is continuing to spread like wildfire. The hit game was playable on iOS for the last couple of months but Android users had to wait a little bit longer. Epic ran a short beta that was exclusive to Samsung devices but now that is over, other Android users are getting the chance to play it. But downloading the beta is more complicated than just getting it over Google Play, so now, we will run you through the steps you need to play the beta on Android. Check our previous post about Fortnite Battle Royale Mobile APK (iOS, Android): Release Date.
1. Refrain from searching the Fortnite Android Beta on Play Store.
Epic Games made it clear that they will be distributing the beta on their terms and won’t release it on Play Store so anything you see under the name Fortnite on Play Store or on the internet is probably a malicious software trying to ruin your system, so be wary.
2. Check Device Compatibility
If you are not using a compatible Samsung device, first you need to check if your Android is compatible or not. You can do that on Epic’s website. If your device is compatible, you have to sign up for the Beta and wait for the queue. When you get in front of the queue, you will get an e-mail invite.Log in with your Epic account to connect your Xbox Live, PSN, or PC Battle Pass progress. Epic said the process should not take more than a few days, so if you are itching to try it on your Android, do not worry.
That said if you are using one of the compatible Samsung S7 / S7 Edge, S8 / S8+, S9 / S9+, Note 8, Note 9, Tab S3 and the Tab S4 devices, you can download it without any effort, either through the Samsung Game Launcher or Epic’s website.
3. Download the Fortnite Installer
You should get your invite after a few days. After you get it, download the Fortnite Installer, the official APK that installs the game. After the installation is complete, you will be able to load up the game and log in with your account to start playing the Fortnite Android Beta.
After these steps -and with a bit of patience- you will be able to enjoy the game on your Android device. Keep in mind that this is only a beta and problems can arise in different ways; that’s what the Beta is for: to optimize the game better for the platform. Fortnite saw great success on all platforms and we are sure it will be a hit on Android too if Epic Games manages to get it working properly. Until the full release, enjoy the Beta!
Fortnite is available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
